We're pretty sure that this album wasn't intended to be a lullaby album, but The Innocence Mission's interpretations of jazz and traditional standards on Now the Day is Over are so beautiful that they transcend genres. Indeed, these are songs that singer Karen Peris has sung to her children as lullabies since they were born. Her clear and vibrant voice, accompanied by her husband Don Peris on guitar, truly resonates and brings life to songs like Edelweiss and Over the Rainbow that you might not have throught was there. We play Now the Day is Over when we need to calm ourselves down, and it always seems to do the trick.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to organizations working to aid impoverished children throughout Africa.
