For toddlers, we like this toy because of its simplicity. Other shape sorters have many more shapes or may even employ lots of licensed characters that will just confuse a one year old. This one has just three shapes in three different colors with a simple top that comes off and on easily. Our nephew enjoyed just putting the blocks into the box and taking them out again when he was about nine months old. Older toddlers will actually sort the blocks by shape into the box or stack them up outside. Made in Thailand.
