Our Environmental Policy

We feel that almost all of our products are environmentally-friendly alternatives to those available in conventional toy or baby stores. Cloth diapers, for example, require less resources to produce and use than disposables. Likewise, wood toys last longer than plastic toys, are made from a renewable resource, and are bio-degradable. We also carry organic alternatives when available.

We offset our store's entire electrical usage with wind energy credits from Native Energy, which uses our offset to build wind turbines on the Rosebud Sioux Tribe’s St Francis Wind Farm in South Dakota. To light our store, almost all of our fixtures use compact flourescents.

We also re-use and recycle when we can. Most of our store fixtures our used. Our front counter, for example, used to be in the Nature Company Store in the short-lived Conservatory in Downtown Minneapolis. We also re-use the boxes and packaging material our inventory arrives in. We never buy new styrofoam peanuts, but we do reuse what we have.
